Specialization: oral and maxillofacial surgery

Deals with: oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthognathic surgery

Dr Sporniak-Tutak is the author and co-author of scientific publications in national and international medical journals. Her main scope of research is the implantological treatment of patients with compromised clinical conditions and treatment of facial skeleton defects. From 20 years runs a private dental practice, being at the same time voivodship consultant in oral surgery.

She graduated Faculty of Dentistry at Pomeranian Medical University. In 1991, She started work in 1991 as an assisstant at the Oral Sugery Department. Throughout the professional career she is associated with the Oral Surgery Department PUM.

Dr Sporniak-Tutak is an active member of the National Association of Dental Implantology OSIS-EDI, Polish Dental Association(PTS) Section of Maxillofacial Orthopedics, Polish Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (PTCHJU), the European Society of Maxillofacial Surgery (EACMFS) and the International Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (IOMFS).

In May 2012, She presented her habilitation thesis about the impact of immunosuppressive therapy on bone and osseointegration of intraosseous titanium implants. Immunosuppressive drugs are used more and more frequently as the year-on-year increase in the number of patients with grafts of various organs. The study evaluated the effect of immunosuppressive drugs on bone cells, bone structure, and the degree of integration of the implant with the bone. It was found that the skillful use of these drugs can minimize the negative effects on bone, which will expand the indications for the use of implants in patients treated with immunosuppressive drugs.

RESEARCH

Aesthetic Dent team led by Katarzynę Sporniak-Tutak is involved in a multicenter research program which brings together the most prestigious research centers from Switzerland, Austria, USA and Spain. Aesthetic  Dent Clinic is currently the only center in Poland, which conducts research on such a large scale in the field of short implants. The aim of the study is a long-term (5.5 years) functional assessment of short- implant in bony compromised conditions.

Thanks to changing technology of implants production to increase bone-to-implant contact, we investigate efficacy of short implants compared to standard dimensions implants. Based on the preliminary results, we expect many positive effects of the treatment. These include: reducing the need for CT scans, irradiation decrease, limitation and reduction of peri-implant advanced procedures such as bone grafting or bone reconstruction procedures. Also abridgement of treatment time and associated costs. Short implants can also be safely used in patients with systemic diseases that would hinder the process of surgery and healing.
